Was George Orwell a prophet?

It is like his 1984, we have a never ending war, cctv everywhere, A tv screen in most rooms, and thought police under the name of political correctness telling us how we should be thinking. Saw the original on tv as a kid and it scared me then. Now I am even more afraid.
