Donnie Darko help?Please???

Why did Frank the giant bunny save Donnie if in the end it seems that donnie is in the exact same spot and nothings really change. What was the point??? Its driving me crazy. i get the whole tangible and primary universe thing i just dont see what was accomplished after all that. Please help. Thanx!
