How much is a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign?

I received a ticket after not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. I tried to explain, that I was on my way to see my sister who had just been rushed to hospital with an appendicitis. But she didn't want to hear it she told me "driving like that is what causes accidents." and that I was lucky she wasn't giving me an inattentive driving ticket as well.
