Question regarding religious names and hospitals:?

Many hospitals in the United States have religious names (not all of them). In the past I have been told that these hospitals were operated and maintained and managed by religious groups (thus the reason for the name) and that other hospitals were usually maintained by the community and some were private. Today it seems that all the hospitals are run by corporations (both of the one's in my birthtown are). With many of the Catholic hospitals the nuns or whoever are still very much a part of the hospitals (St. Mary's here still has the sisters of St. Mary and at Mercy in Oklahoma City the Sisters of Mercy are still there, but do not maintain, operate, or manage the hospital it's done by a corporation). So what about the other hospitals with names like Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, etc, etc, etc. Do the religions still have some part in those hospitals? What part/role do they have? Today, is there a difference between the 'religious' named and nonreligious named hospitals?

Why do people discriminate against dogs?

I bought a samsung rant in oct of last year..i decided it was time for an update from my palm centro. im sorry i did it now, because for the whole year i had my centro i never had any problems from it. My hamster fell! Will he be okay?

I was showing my mom my hamster, and I held it up to her, but it tried to get out of my hands and fell. It fell on it's back, and it kind of tensed up and squeaked and peed. Is it normal that my stubborn fat feels "lumpy"?

I've been trying to lose weight for about a month now and it's been going pretty well. The areas where I have fat the most are in my upper arms (which are drooping, unfortunately) and my inner thighs. I have a knack for "feeling" my fat to keep me motivated so that I know how much fat is on my body and how much work I have to do to get rid of it (I sound crazy hahahaha). I was pinching my arm fat and moved the skin between my fingers around and I felt some tiny lumps inside, kind of like little of fat under the skin. They are painless of course, however the entire area feels clumpy. Is it normal that fat feels like that? Or is fat suppose to feel "smooth" under the skin? Can I completely get rid of those fat clusters with good nutrition and exercise?

My dog is dying PLEASE HELP.?

4 days ago, my dog was up and running around. She is around 13 years old, a border collie, and is EXTREMELY active. 3 days ago, I woke up to find her lying on the ground. I called out her name sweetly, petted her, and gave her a treat. She didn't even wag her tail. I know that sounds odd for her not to do but trust me, she wags her tail ALL the time. I tried to coax her up to go to the bathroom, but she physically couldn't get up. You could tell she tried though because the whole time she was whimpering, trying to get up. I had to hand feed her and she ate which is good that she has an apetite. 2 days ago, I woke up to find her lying in her own urine. (please don't say that's gross because I find it heartbreaking). She was in the same condition that day except it smelled like fish. (urine) She wagged her tail a LITTLE BIT but not much. I really need to take her to the vet but I physically don't have the money. Why do I get so exhausted from running?

I'm a 36 year old male, workout regularly and am in pretty good shape. I'll train with weights, spin, etc., and though I "feel it" the next day, it's not too bad, and I'm usually good to go again, my recovery is quite good. However, when I run outside (jog), I feel 10 times exhausted the next day, my ankles are sore, and overall, I feel WIPED OUT (coma feeling). Is there anything I can do to remedy this? I only run for 20 minutes, and yet I still feel it so much the next day that I almost feel like I need another day off. Is it because my body isn't used to the running, or, is my body asking me to slow down? Is it aging? When I was 23, I could run 1 hour everyday and hardly feel it the next day. Part of this has to do with aging I'm sure. Is there anything I can do to boost my next day recovery? I want to exercise 40 minutes per day (weights and running), but I don't want to feel wiped out the next day.

When am i supposed to get my period?

so last month i had an early on miscarriage. i started bleeding early around aug 4th when my pd was supposed to come around the 10th. my levels when they were checked by blood test only came to 32. then 2 days later they were 10 then about 4 days later it was negative. i went to the dr and had strep throat the last time they checked my levels. but i know something was up when my first blood test came back that my levels were low. and my symptoms kept decreasing. so here it is the 6th of september and no period yet? my cycles are usually 26 days apart. so...when is my period coming? and i wasnt on bc pills this month because of the whole thought i was pregnant thing and then miscarrying thing. so if anyone has any advice or lived through an experience similar to mine please share. oh and last month when my so called period started on the 4th of aug it was spotty and heavy for a day and spotty again. it lasted a week. so please read this and answer...really need some help here.

I think it may be a problem with one of your addons/extensions, if you have explorer click tools--> manage addons, then block any you don't need and try again. Is this problem with all sites and have you tried it with other browsere (Internet Explorer if you have Firefox and the opposite if you have IE). If you cant change the website, perhaps you should try to change the home page (right click IE and click properties) or just re install the entire browser, or install a different one (if you have bookmarks etc on the old one). I used to get it sometimes with the Google Tollbar Addon, but reloading it worked for me.

Interference or Legal?

Just a quick question for someone who may have umpired or coached. I am coaching a summer baseball team which goes by high school rules. If a runner on first base or second base, it doesnt matter, attempts to steal or take the next base and slides into the base but cannot reach the base because the fielder has a leg blocking the base is it interference or legal. This is before the ball reaches the base, he slides in before the throw reaches the fielder and is blocked, the fielder then catches the ball right after and tags him out. From what I understand the rules to be I would consider this to be interference because the fielder does not have the right to impede the runner from advancing especially before he has the ball. Other people say its just a good play by the fielder, risky because they could easily get hurt but a good play nonetheless. Anyways I was wondering if someone could help clarify this for me. Thanks

Definitely get the sleep study if for no other reason than to rule out that problem. I've never heard of this but at least you've got tests etc by qualified physicians. My husband had the sleep study done and it was a royal pain trying to sleep with the electrodes etc but it was worth it, he's a different man because even when he was "sleeping" he really wasn't. It almost sounds like your husband is going catatonic for a short period. And it sounds like it is when he's extremely tired so the doctors are tying the episode to that. Once again, get the sleep study, at this point you have nothing to lose and God forbid if that happened when he was driving or something the results could be a disaster. Take care.

I think all of the negatives are outweighed by the one positive that it brings so many different people together. I do think that the fact that it costs so much is a huge negative. Should i forget about looking for a job at 6 months pregnant?

im a mother of a 2 year old girl with one more on the way. im 6 months pregnant and working as an esthetician in a day spa. My hours may possibly be cut down in half for the summer due to slow business and money is very tight already. I dont know what im going to do. would that look weird for me to apply for a job at 6 months pregnant? if i found a job it would be permanent and im only taking an 8 week leave of absence. im 50/50 on the whole situation. on one hand its not like i cant handle the job...i do facials and waxing nothing strenuous but on the other hand maybe i shouldnt bother. once i go on the interview they might look at me kind of strange with my big old belly. any thoughts on the situation?

Broke My Arms 7 Years Ago, But Never Set Right?

I am 15 now and I broke my arm when I was 8 actually it was the growth plate on my elbow, and I never had surgery on it, all I did was have it set a the hospital and a full cast put on for 5 weeks. Anyways I was exposed to do occupational therapy which i did for a few weeks, but after that I was exposed to do exercises that made my arm turn better, but I didn't. Now all these years later the farthest I can twist my arm is a little further then when you go to shake some ones hand, I (can) move my arm a little past that point, but can't give some one a low five. Any ideas on what I should do, and in fact my arms seems like it used to twist further when I was younger, is this because I have been lifting weights and working out?

My first yearbook article due is Administration. I am a bit confused on what this covers. Different people have told me different things. Some people told me to only talk about the principal and vice principal. Others told me it also includes secretaries, lunch ladies, and custodians. Any idea on which it really is? I am also having trouble coming up with a catchy title, subtitle, and interesting things to put on the page. I love it and am doing the same. On days fibro cripples the hands I type bit. but will add these to the book. I have basketball tryouts this week and I've been conditioning for 2-3 weeks but I just can't seem to hit tat 6 minute mile that we're required to run before the tryouts even begin... what are some ways I can give myself an edge on the track? Hello to all. I am just now able to start losing the weight I gain during my surgery and treatments. I have been ill since 09/07 and had surgery 01/14/08. I need to lose 40 lbs and tone my body. Ten years ago I planted lots of bulbs of various spring and summer blooming flowers. For the last five years, my house has been let to tenants who couldn't find pruning shears if they were tied on a string and hung around their necks. This resulted in many of my flowers not getting much sun, if any. Now that spring is on its way, I have noticed that the bulbs are producing lots of foliage, but very few buds. I need to divide the bulbs this summer after the foliage dies away, but I am wondering if it is a good idea to do so after a "recharging year" -- will I destroy my chances at flowers next spring?

Had barium drink today at doctors now im so miserable?

i drank quite a bit of barium today at the docs while they were doing xrays for my digestion issues. Doc said its normal to have "chalky" stool. they also said it's normal to be constipated, gy, or have the runs. about 20 mins after i was done, i HAD to go to the bathroom. there's no substance to it... its just the liquid. I've already gone about 20 times already and still its just white liquid.My stomach hurts a lot and now im getting what looks similar to a diaper rash from the diarrhea. What can i use to help with that and is this normal and how long does it last? I'm so miserable and so glad i called out from work.. will i need to again for tomorrow? I don't even feel like im getting any better at all.

This term is a bit new, but I was wondering of what constitutes as "life smarts". For instance, I'm in high school right now, and I'm born of a middle to upper middle cl family. (I'm not clear on which social cl I belong in, but I know that my mom's salary is $100,000+ but not greater than $150,000). I get most of what I want (even though I don't ask for much). I strive hard for the best grades-I'm usually near straight A's (never got below B+ as a final grade), and, ultimately, unlike my clmates, I don't have a part time job b/c I don't need one...yet. (This is because my parents are earning enough to pay off my tuition fees and I'm an only child ;). I know, however, if I enter a pre-professional field like Engineering or premed, I might have to work part time in an institution related to the field if I want to go to good grad school + there might be a required internship...A lot of my clmates believe that being an only child is usually too spoiled (I don't speak up to it, of course, since I don't like to cause trouble) and I have a friend who thinks that I'm too spoiled since I don't participate in as many extracurricular activites nor have a part time job. So, what constitutes being spoiled, unspoiled? Does not having a part time job in high school and college make me spoiled? Difficult Colleague Deliberately Winding Me Up - Help!?

I share an office with a woman. Wwe had a major issue last year re. her overuse of pungent perfume that caused me sinus problems etc. It took me ages to get boss to take my complaint seriously. My dad died suddenly then & while I was on hols in summer, colleague filed a grievance procedure against me for harrment, said she felt "under scrutiny"because I objected to her perfume. She didn't press ahead, as there was no basis for her false claim. We now barely speak except workrelated.
